ARE RAFFLES VALID

Mr. Gavriel Fishman died and left over his father, Naftali’s tallis. The tallis belonged to the Kedushas Levi of Bardichov. Mr. Gavriel’s two sons wanted the tallis for themselves. They agree to make a raffle where one would win the tallis and the other $100,000.00. Is this raffle valid?

Rabbi Reuven Yacobi teaches 6th grade. He raffled off seforim, and Chaim Klein had the winning ticket. Later, Chaim did not behave. Rabbi Yacobi wants to take back the rights to the seforim from him. May he do so if he didn’t give Chaim the seforim yet?

Yeshivat Chemdas Torah raffled off a ticket to Eretz Israel, and the Kluger’s won them. After that, the price of the tickets went up. The moised wanted to take back the prize, with the reasoning that the Kluger’s didn’t receive the tickets yet. It’s a dover shelo boi leolam.

A rich lady came to Bais Yaakov and told the 12th graders that she wants to pay for the wedding of one of the girls. The winner of the raffle was N. Eric. After the raffle, they checked the envelope and saw that another girl had entered her name twice. Is the raffle valid?

The shiur will take place Thursday night 8:50 to 9:30 pm in shul!

Given by: Rabbi Mattisyuhu Dinkels
