We have all experienced the horror of the recent shootings in Pittsburgh and Poway. It is no secret that Shuls have become a target of choice for those seeking to harm our people. The safety of each of us, must be a top priority. We need to be pro-active now, to ensure our Shul is secure.
Protecting our Shul involves multiple levels of security. Starting from locked doors, vigilant congregants and armed Security guards. But G-d forbid these outside layers sometimes fail and in light of recent situations we need a PROPER answer to this. If we are to have a better answer to a terrorist who comes to do our community harm we need YOUR help.
We are among a dozen+ Shuls in California working with MagenAm to create our own 3rd security layer. A highly trained, licensed, covert, Rapid Response Armed Security team, present in the Shul from within our CLY congregants. This team is 100% volunteer individuals.
Our Shul will need to cover the volunteer's training costs, certification and then maintain the teams insurance and re-certifications. The initial cost to train, gear and license each member is $5000. To maintain insurance and ongoing training/re-certification each year thereafter is $2500 per member.
It is a huge task to volunteer 100's of hours to professional grueling training, licensing and certification at the highest caliber. This program is already active at various Shuls across California and you may have been at one - without even knowing. We need your help to pay for OUR Shuls Team.
